The North American and MENA markets are the leading OCTG import markets in the world. Nevertheless, prices in both markets remain under pressure as a result of competitive dynamics. In the USA, domestic suppliers are facing tough competition from low-cost importers and are having trouble maintaining significant margins over imported tonnage. The MENA market has very few regional suppliers, but remains an extremely competitive import market nonetheless, especially for Chinese suppliers who can not export to the USA due to high duties. Prices here are still in decline through the first quarter of 2014, especially for the API grades.

MBR’s analysts will examine the market fundamentals of both the North American and MENA markets, touching on the price drivers in each unique market. Topics covered will include inventories, raw materials costs, trade issues including the recent US case against OCTG imports from nine countries, as well as the seamless vs. ERW debate. They will then provide an outlook for OCTG pricing in each region touching on the main factors that will affect pricing through early 2015.
