China's official PMI for the manufacturing sector hit an 18-month high of 51.4 points in October, compared with 51.1 points in the previous month

China’s recovery in economic growth extended at the beginning of the fourth quarter, with gains recorded in both the Chinese official and HSBC purchasing managers indices (PMI). In fact, the country’s official PMI for the manufacturing sector hit an 18-month high of 51.4 points in October, compared with 51.1 points in the previous month. The HSBC manufacturing PMI for China also hit a seven-month high, with a final reading of 50.9 points for October, the same as the flash PMI released by the bank earlier in October and up from September’s 50.2 points.
