Coking coal prices on weak footing: Coke and Coking Coal Highlights


China’s coking coal import market remains quiet amid high inventories at ports.

International coking coal prices held steady in the past week, with Australian hard coking coal at $170/tonne FOB but offers are starting to head lower. Xstrata Coal was heard to have offered its Oaky North hard coking coal with 25-26% volatile matter and 68% CSR at $170/tonne CFR China. We expect sales to be in the $160-170/tonne range in the coming week or so.
