Supply/Demand Fundamentals: The fundamentals are coming back into balance now, crude steel production has moderated as end user demand flags. Pig iron capacity utilisation is still skirting low levels at 40-45% and we expect supply to adjust lower accordingly.
Price Implications: Prices are moving lower, in sync with the weaker export market. Producers have begun to concentrate their efforts on domestic consumers but most are unwilling to accept the current price levels.
