Lower prices leading to better buying opportunities: Tin - Market Analysis


The price drift continues despite tin being one of the metals with the stronger fundamentals. A lack of liquidity in this small market, especially now the summer slow season has arrived, is not helping its cause. However, we expect a strong recovery in prices once the fundamentals reassert themselves. In that sense, the lower tin goes, the better the buying opportunity becomes.

Indonesian production cuts

We have heard reports from Indonesia in recent days noting private smelters are running at around 50% of capacity. We are not surprised by this. Also, we hear that PT Timah is no longer selling tin on a spot basis and is only fulfilling contract commitments. However, it is not clear whether this is...
