Europe climbs on tight availability: Manganese Highlights


European manganese alloy prices post further gains on tight supply.

European high-carbon ferro-manganese spot market prices are at €970-990/tonne ($1,235-1,265/tonne). In eastern Europe, however, prices are even stronger at around €1,050/tonne ($1,340/tonne), with even tighter domestic stocks. Refined ferro-manganese spot market prices are around €1,275-1,300/tonne ($1,625-1,660/tonne).The European spot silico-manganese spot price has increased amid tight supplies and steady demand from steel mills, particularly in northern Europe. European spot market silico-manganese prices are around €1,100/tonne ($1,400/tonne) delivered, and as much as €1,250/tonne ($1,595/tonne) in central and eastern Europe. The spot market is well up on second-quarter deals of slightly above €1,000/tonne delivered in northern Europe.European ferro-alloys smelters are oversold and are even looking to buy material to fulfil their long-term delivery contracts.
