Chinese aluminium market view - 1 November 2011: China aluminium production reached another record high
Chinese output of primary aluminium reached an all-time high in September. Although power outages affected the production in some provinces, this was offset by the ramp up in production in other provinces, mostly in western part of China.
Last week, both SHFE spot and three month prices increased, on the back of the EU agreement on a credible plan to prevent Eurozone debt crisis from spreading. SHFE spot increased 0.7% to Rmb16,480/tonne ($2,592/tonne) from Rmb16,365/tonne previously and three month contract rose 2.6% to Rmb16,535/tonne ($2,601/tonne) from Rmb16,120/tonne.
