Price falls continue and likely to accelerate: American Market Highlights


USA as prices have taken a 20% slump from the yearly high of $1,218/tonne.

Looking at a graph of price movements for this year would not be pleasant reading for galvanised producers in the USA as prices have taken a 20% slump from the yearly high of $1,218/tonne to today’s price of $970/tonne. Demand is just simply nonexistent in the market at present and hasn’t been for some time. The economic factors currently at play in the macro markets are having severe knock on affects on steel markets and the downstream sectors do not escape unscathed.

The USA domestic market has been arguably been the worst hit since news broke of the debt crisis...
