Chinese aluminium market view - 25 October 2011: China aluminium demand starts to be fading

Chinese demand for primary aluminium eased in September following a slowdown in consumption of semi-fabricated aluminium products in both the domestic and international markets.

SHFE spot aluminium price witnessed a 3.2% drop last week, from a previous close of Rmb 16,900/tonne ($2,649/tonne) to last Friday’s Rmb 16,365/tonne ($2,564/tonne). Investors are keeping their capital away from the risky assets as concerns over uncertainties surrounding the European Union summit still erode their sentiments.
