India being priced out of the market: Asian Market Highlights
Indian mills are at a disadvantage from its currency, the Indian rupee as it has strengthened against the US dollar rather sharply since July.
Indian producers of coated material have been finding it more and more difficult to compete with a growing export market that is largely dominated by Chinese material which, although is of a lesser quality it is also cheaper which, in times of an economic downturn is seemingly favoured by buyers. Not to mention that Indian mills are also at a disadvantage from its currency, the Indian rupee has strengthened against the US dollar rather sharply since July, currently standing at Rs48.88 versus the US dollar. To combat this, Indian producers are aiming its products at the Middle-East and North Africa markets.
