Chinese domestic offers creep up: Asian Market Highlights


Chinese hot dipped galvanised steel producers have managed to push up their domestic prices this month.

Domestic markets were buoyant going into August. Chinese hot dipped galvanised steel producers have managed to push up their domestic prices this month by $10/tonne, taking MBR’s price assessment for 1mm Z120 material up to $830/tonne FOB EXW.

Export prices have largely held stable as producers such as Shandong prefer to sell onto the domestic market where demand has been strong over the past month, led particularly by the construction sector (see chart).
