Coking coal markets flat: Coke and Coking Coal Highlights


Coking coal inventories at Chinese port jumped back after the slight fall two weeks' ago.

Coking coal markets in China showed little change this week. Import prices stayed flat as the raised offer prices of $310/tonne FOB for premium-quality coking coal pushed last week from Australian mines were rebuffed. Inventories of coking coal at port rebounded after the small fall two weeks' ago, which we are being told was due to weather difficulties at some ports delaying unloading of material form ships. The outcome has been highs of coking coal at port again, now standing at 24.2m tonnes, a record high (see chart showing coking coal inventories at Chinese ports).
