Chinese aluminium market view - 29 July 2011: China’s aluminium ingot market is shrinking


China’s aluminium ingot supply is tightening as fabricators choose to build or move operations closer to aluminium smelters and thus make fewer ingots available for free market trading.

Shanghai Futures Exchange October aluminium prices have significant increases during last week, up 4.0% to close at Rmb18,295/tonne ($2,842/tonne). SHFE aluminium inventory fell another 22,062 tonnes over the week to 181,715 tonnes.
