ArcelorMittal to reduce shifts at Florange: Global tinplate market highlights
EU industry predominantly remains on annual or six-month contracts to the big canners.
The company cited weakening demand, as it announced that it will cut a shift (from five to four) at its Florange site in France, which can produce up to 650,000 tpy, from July. This will cut around 10,000 tpm of tinmill output assuming it was running at full capacity prior to that. With French output running at around 70,000 tpm, this is equivalent to approximately 15% of the total, but only around 2.5% of EU output of up to 400,000 tpm.
