Japanese mills secure a ¥20,000/tonne ($250/tonne) increase in their annual domestic contract sales to canmakers.
Japanese mills appear to have secured a ¥20,000/tonne ($250/tonne) increase in their annual domestic contract sales to canmakers effective from April. Negotiations were pushed back following the March earthquake and tsunami, but are now largely settled. While some disruptions to canmaking locations have been reported, overall domestic shipments remain robust as the affected canmakers have largely been able to shift operations to other sites.
