Coking coal market prospects still flat as JFE agrees next quarter contract prices: Coke and Coking Coal Highlights
Coking coal contract benchmark prices set at $315/tonne FOB.
Coking coal contract prices for July-September quarter have been set between Anglo American and JFE Steel Corporation according to various reports. The benchmark price being reported is $315/tonne FOB, the same as that agreed between Anglo American and Arcellor Mittal at the end of May. This is in the same ball park as the $310-330/tonne FOB seen for contract prices for the present quarter.
The hope then that contract prices would lower somewhat this month has not materialised. The expectation was that the emergency in Japan would loosen supplies, acting as downwards pressure on prices. Japanese manufacturing industrial production rates saw a sharp dive down in March, falling...
