EU prices unchanged, but imports rising and we expect domestic prices will follow: Europe, Middle East and Africa Market Analysis
Inventory of most products are at relatively low levels as buying has been weak since March after the strong start to the year.
Ex-works standard prices out of Italian mills remained at 660-700/tonne for S235 ERW pipe for the first half of May, but tentative signs of an improvement in flat product pricing are likely to result in higher prices in June. Flat product pricing pushed up around 20/tonne in the second half of May and we expect EU tubular prices will follow. This will be supported by higher Turkish import prices, which are being pushed up thanks to improved Turkish flat product demand. The Turkish domestic HR coil price is now up to $770/tonne ex-works from a low of $700/tonne and standard tubular is now being quoted at around 600-620/tonne cif (around $820-850/tonne fob).
