Earlier this year, US HDG steel market were seeing an average of two major price increase announcements a month amid improving, but still somewhat lukewarm, demand. Now HDG prices, like other flat-rolled steel prices, have clearly peaked and are drifting down. Prices are expected to continue to wind down through the summer. They have already begun to do so. In the past two weeks or so, Midwest prices have fallen by an approximate $65/short ton, with West Coast prices seeing similar declines.
