EU prices slide again: Europe, Middle East and Africa Market Analysis
In central Europe, Polish and Czech prices are now around €675-700/tonne ex-works for S235 material – down around €30/tonne over the month.
Commodity welded tube prices have dipped again this month across southern Europe as HR coil prices continue to slide and limited purchasing has meant that producers have immediately passed on any discounts in an effort to secure market share. S235 has moved below 700/tonne ex-works, with most southern European producers looking to get in the 660-700/tonne range for near-term deliveries off the floor or with lead times of less than a month. As we have noted in the last couple of months, there has not been steady buying since mid-February, when stockists and end-users were very active on expectations of higher prices. They are now sitting on (and processing) inventory and awaiting lower prices before purchasing again.
