Domestic prices notch up in September: European Market Highlights


MBR understands that base prices for HDG have on average notched up by around Û10/tonne and now stand in the region of Û500-550/tonne ($732-805/tonne) ex-works. However, while it appears that the more significant price increases implemented by producers last month have been accepted, this is not likely to hold indefinitely due to the threat of a deluge of imports from China pushing down prices (discussed below).

Flat steel service centre stocks down again in June

As MBR forecasted last month, service centre stocks for flat products in Europe dropped again in June, as the automotive and construction sector upticks delivered an improvement in end-user demand.
