International tinplate prices remained relatively stable in September, although we believe pressure is gathering that will force prices down before the end of the year.
International tinplate prices remained relatively stable in September, although we believe pressure is gathering that will force prices down before the end of the year. MBR has heard divergent views on underlying enduse demand and stock levels from market participants in a number of markets. Although difficult to generalise, in our view there is not real shortage of tinmill supply at the moment and stock levels are sufficiently high to prevent buyers from having to place large orders in the short term. MBR also believes that HR coil prices have already peaked in most markets this year; from now until the end of Q1 2010 the prevailing trend should see substrate costs fall.
