Tinplate prices in flux: Global Tinplate Market Highlights
Chinese spot prices rise but Chinese material still uncompetitive in international markets
Over the last month or so there has been a reversal in the trends that defined international tinplate markets for much of the first and second quarters of the year. Tinplate prices have declined in western Europe and the USA, while in Asia they have increased slightly. The margin of tinplate prices over cold rolled coil prices remains larger than the average of the last few years, but MBR foresees a narrowing in these margins in coming months.
