Turkish pipe exports fall in May: Europe, middle East and Africa
Linepipe prices display wide range in the region.
After rising through the first four months of the year, Turkish pipe exports started to fall back in May, according to data from the Istanbul Mineral and Metal Exporters Association. Exports in May totalled 130,794 tonnes a 30% year-on-year reduction and a 20% reduction on last month. This brings the total for the first five months of the year to 677,616 tonnes. The biggest importer of the material so far this year has been Algeria with 224,000 tonnes. This is followed by Iraq with 75,000 tonnes, and the UK with 36,000 tonnes. Turkish exporters have offset the lack of interest from Europe with shipments to north Africa and the Middle East.
