Prices rise in Chinese domestic market: Asian Highlights
Raw material prices are still dictating the pricing strategies of mills across the region.
In the Chinese domestic market MBR understands that prices for stainless steel flat products have been rising again over the last month, as increased raw material prices continue to dictate pricing behaviour by mills. This is both indicative of the fact that mills are running at very limited margins and also the fact that some strength is returning to the market.
Prices for 304 CR 2mm coil has been quoted at Rmb17,420/tonne ($2,546/tonne) and 304 HR coil at Rmb16,220/tonne. We understand that 430 CR 2mm stands at Rmb9,720/tonne and 202 CR coil is Rmb15,000/tonne.Prices in south China are reportedly higher than those in north China, despite the fact that most stainless products are produced in south China and then transported northwards.
This is reflective of the fact that for several months that ex-mill prices have been higher than prevailing...
