Chinese hit with AD tariff: Europe, Middle East and Africa Market analysis
Will investors come to Europe to avoid the tariff wall?
The European Commission put provisional antidumping (AD) duties on round seamless pipe up to 406.4mm diameter from China, following an investigation that began in July 2008.
Tariffs were set at 15.6% for Hubei Xinyegang Steel; 15.1% for Shandong Luxing Steel Pipe; 22.3% for Hengyang Valin MPM, Hengyang Valin Steel Tube, Handan Precise Seamless Steel Pipes, Jiangsu Huacheng Industry Group, Jiangyin Metal Tube Making Factory, Jiangyin City Seamless Steel Tube Factory, Pangang Group Chengdu Iron & Steel, Shenyang Xinda, Suzhou Seamless Steel Tube Works, Tianjin Pipe Corp, Wuxi Dexin Steel Tube, Wuxi Dongwu Pipe Industry, Wuxi Seamless Oil Pipe, Zhangjiagang City Yiyang Pipe Producing, Zhangjiagang Yichen Steel Tube; and 24.2% for the other Chinese suppliers.
The duties take effect immediately and will be charged until the European Commission makes a final decision about whether they will be made permanent.
